Tempest Technology Corporation is the leading manufacturer of products and accessories for environmental management in firefighting, industrial, and golf/turf applications.
Tempest began business as a manufacturer of gasoline and electric powered blowers for the fire service. Fire departments use the Tempest Power Blower for a technique called Positive Pressure Ventilation (also known as PPV). PPV is applied to remove the heat, gases and smoke from the interior of a burning structure. By removing the hostile interior environment, it is easier and safer for firefighters to enter the structure, locate victims and extinguish the fire.
From a foundation built in the fire service, Tempest has expanded into other industries and found new applications for its products. The Tempest Power Blower and PPV are used by construction contractors to control the hostile environments they encounter such as dust, fumes, and unhealthy gases like carbon monoxide; greatly improving safety in confined spaces. Tempest blowers are also used by golf courses to dry wet greens and prevent heat stress with air movement.
Tempest is committed to expanding its business through acquisitions: In June of 1989, Tempest purchased Controlled Airstreams to expand its line of gasoline and electric Positive Pressure Ventilation Blowers. Then, in January of 1998, Tempest purchased the rights to manufacture the VentMaster Fire/Rescue saw, used by fire departments for vertical ventilation. In December of 2000, Tempest purchased the Port-A-Lite product line, used for industrial and construction ventilation.
The latest innovation by Tempest is the Mobile Ventilation Unit (MVU) a vehicle mounted, hydraulically powered blower that is used to ventilate highway tunnels, train tunnels and large warehouses. The MVU can also be used to ventilate aircraft, airport terminal buildings and high-rise buildings.
Tempest Technology Corporation has established a reputation as a leader and innovator in the air movement industry and continues in that role today.
